Our recent Wind and String Workshop provided a valuable opportunity for students from both programs to come together and work as one ensemble. For many, it was the first time playing alongside peers from different sections, as part of the Bellingen Youth Cygnet Orchestra.
Throughout the workshop, students participated in targeted sectional rehearsals led by our Music Teachers. These sessions helped students focus on technique, ensemble skills, and listening — all essential for group performance. The workshop ended with an informal concert for parents, offering a chance to share what had been learned over the course of the program.
We’d like to thank the Australian Government, the NSW Government, and the Bellingen Shire Council for their support. A grant provided in response to the pandemic made this workshop possible, allowing us to continue delivering music education to young people in our region.
The growing numbers in our String and Wind Schools show how important it is to support music programs like this. With ongoing funding, we can continue to offer accessible learning experiences to more students.
