The Cygnet Orchestra is an intermediate ensemble designed to develop orchestral experience for emerging string and wind players. It brings together musicians from the Bellingen Youth Orchestra String School (BYOSS) and the Bellingen Youth Orchestra Wind School (BYOWS) to rehearse and perform as a combined orchestra.
The Cygnet Orchestra provides a supportive and collaborative environment in which players build ensemble skills, musicianship, listening, and performance confidence while working on engaging intermediate-level repertoire under the guidance of experienced BYO tutors.
Participation in the Cygnet Orchestra is included as part of BYOSS and BYOWS enrolment, with no additional fee required.
Each year, the Cygnet Orchestra presents a standalone concert in Term 3, showcasing the musical growth and achievements of its members. Players also participate in selected workshops, community performances, and combined BYO concerts throughout the year, gaining valuable rehearsal and performance experience.
The Cygnet Orchestra forms an important part of the BYO performance pathway, supporting players as they prepare to progress into the Bellingen Youth Orchestra.
