What a treat it was to have our very own Sinfonia delight an intimate crowd at their fundraising event this weekend. With music specifically chosen by Sinfonia director Amber Davis, the program delighted the senses as our audience was taken on a journey inspired by European greats such as ‘Grieg’ and ‘Tchaikovsky’s serenade for strings’. Program highlights included ‘The Five Variants of Dives and Lazarus’ a superbly sumptuous string arrangement featuring Saskia Scheib on the harp, with sweeping melodies stretching across the orchestra underpinned by deep and resonant harmonies. Also featuring will be a solo from renowned Australian-Swiss flutist Bridget Bolliger, playing the ‘Rutter Antique Suite.
