The Bellingen Youth Orchestra Wind School is a new ensemble for junior woodwind, brass and percussion players. This ensemble provides an opportunity for less experienced players to develop their musical, ensemble and performance skills, as they prepare to join the flagship Bellingen Youth Orchestra. The Wind School is led by experienced band director and BYO woodwind mentor, Hazel Buchanan, assisted by the multi-talented Pru Borgert and renowned percussionist Pete Skelton. The Wind School will perform at BYO concerts as well as having opportunities to work with the BYO String School and the BYO. Players who are invited to join the BYO Junior Winds will have the opportunity to develop their technical and musicianship skills in a collaborative and welcoming environment. Repertoire will be carefully selected to provide players with achievable and satisfying challenges.
