DESCRIPTION:2022 has seen the BYO recover\, rebuild and welcome back our audience at the Bellingen High School’s Stockton Hall.  Music is a collective experience and the BYO see the next step of our recovery and rebuilding as a presentation of works to signify the grand re-opening and a 2023 Season at the refurbished\, upgraded and extended Bellingen Memorial Hall. \n‘Retrace the Space’ will be a FREE musical performance event\, showcasing a selection of modern and contemporary classics\, with a focus on movie theme tracks ensuring engagement of all ages from our community. Our community has a vibrant music scene and draws on a range of distinctive musical styles. However\, The Bellingen Youth Orchestra brings that ‘something special’ to the community\, embracing our older audience but also understanding that for classical music to thrive it must do so in an eclectic culture\, embracing the imagination and passion of the young. This event has not been able to take place in the last two years due to the COVID restrictions but we are thrilled that this year we can offer schools the opportunity to … ‘Meet the Orchestra’! \nBellingen Youth Orchestra have organised an entertaining and free concert for students in Stage 1 and 2 (Years 1\, 2\, 3 and 4). This event will provide students with the opportunity to meet all the sections of the orchestra and the talented teenagers who play these instruments. This is a wonderful opportunity for young students to be introduced to all instruments found in a full orchestra. Some students have never had an experience like this and we are very excited to offer this program to the young people in our region. \nTHIS EVENT IS NOT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. DESCRIPTION:It is with much enthusiasm and excitement that we welcome you to attend the Bellingen Youth Orchestra 2022 Camp.\nOpen to ALL players. After the wonderful success of our 2021 camp\, we are happy to be able to provide our players with this unique experience once again. The camp will not only bring our players together in a fun\, exciting\, positive and engaging atmosphere\, but will also provide extended structured musical workshops where our players can work closely with our highly qualified music teachers to enhance and develop their musicianship. Our exceptionally talented teachers are very eager to share their skills as part of the whole camp experience. Players will also be able to partake in other fun\, confidence building camp activities across the two days to ensure a balance of intensive music focus and time to mix and laugh with friends. The camp will culminate in an afternoon Gala Concert at the Stockton Hall\, where all ensembles will play for their  parents and guests from the local community. \nWith a mix of levels from intermediate to advanced\, our camp is designed to ensure a supportive environment in which we look not only at musical skills but at the confidence and ensemble skills of all of our players. Back Again\, showcasing new pieces from each of our ensembles\, is a wonderful opportunity to welcome to the stage all of our new and returning players\, as we once again celebrate performing with a live audience. \nOur flagship ensemble\, the BYO\, will perform Bizet’s Carmen Suite 1. An audience favourite\, this work is full of ominous themes\, telling a sultry tale of love and fate. \nThe talented young players of the BYO String School are thrilled to present Stephen Chin’s – Celtic Dreaming. A Contemporary Australian Composer\, Chin’s work is filled to the brim with poignant and ravishing melodies. \nFinally\, BYO Sinfonia directed by Amber Davis\, will present Ancient Airs and Dances 3 by Respighi.
