DESCRIPTION:NOT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. INVITED SCHOOLS ONLY. \nThe Bellingen Youth Orchestra are pleased to present our BYO annual schools concert. \nBased on the success of the 2022 Schools Concert\, our proposed 2023 ‘Magic of Music’ event will provide students from our catchment area with the prospect to further familiarise themselves with an orchestral experience and the myriad of positive rewards it provides. We will bring up to 700 (based on last year’s success) identified young people from 15 regional schools – extending to Dorrigo\, Bonville\, Bowraville and Eungai\, to engage with the youth orchestra for two days (4 sessions) of interactive\, fun and engaging music. Students will experience an instrument walk through\, dance and meet the young musicians and tutors\, some of whom are world-class performers. The experience aims to continue to build an interest in and love of music\, encourage playing a musical instrument\, inspire music in schools\, build connections resulting in positive social and emotional experiences\, and promote a culture of successful youth and community development in the Bellingen Shire.

DESCRIPTION: ‘BYO and Valla Voices Unite’ will be a free musical performance event at the Bellingen Memorial Hall showcasing a selection of modern and contemporary classics\, with movie theme tracks ensuring engagement of all ages from our community. We are also excited to be collaborating with the very talented Valla Voices\, with the BYO performing some compositions from one of Australia’s favourite choral composers and conductors ‘Paul Jarman.’ This will be Valla Voices LAST event. Valla Voices have long entertained our local community and beyond with their lustrous singing. Highlights for this talented local choir include performing at the ‘Australian National Choral Festival’ in Brisbane\, the only regional choir invited to perform at the ‘Gondwana World Choir Festival’ and singing in the collective choir at the ‘Sounds of Australia Concert’ at the Sydney Opera House. \nThe Bellingen Youth Orchestra brings that ‘something special’ to the community\, embracing our older audience but also understanding that for classical music to thrive it must do so in an eclectic culture\, embracing the imagination and passion of the young. That is\, after all\, what the BYO are founded on.  The listening experience we provide boosts community pride and connects us all. \nThe Bellingen Youth Orchestra would like to thank the Bellingen Shire Council and the NSW State Government for supporting this event and bringing it to life for our community. Without their support\, this event would not have been able to go ahead and our local community would not be provided with the opportunity to access quality musical performances for free! \nAs part of our ongoing fundraising initiatives there will be a raffle\, supported by our local Bellingen businesses and a canteen at interval. \n\nTICKETS AVAILABLE HERE \n\n

DESCRIPTION:The final Arts Recovery Workshop will take place at Bellingen High School on Friday 19 May (Wk 4). Intermediate orchestral players (Year 8 and below) from the Bellingen and surrounding area are invited to be part of this program. \nThere will be NO cost to public school students for the workshop. However\, a cost of $10 per student will be charged to private school and home schooled participants to help cover the cost of tutors. Please bring this on the day. \nThe day will begin at 9.00am and conclude after a concert for parents and friends at 3.30pm. The concert will begin at 3.15pm.

DESCRIPTION:The BYO are excited to welcome David Helfgott back to the musical stage to help bring Gershwin’s jazz-era masterpiece ‘Rhapsody in Blue’ to life.  Featuring all three ensembles\, this event will be a lovely way to conclude summer and prepare us for the BYO’s 2023 playing year. The event will also showcase new players and compositions from both BYOSS and Sinfonia. \nTickets $25.00 \nUnder 16 free. \nTICKET LINK BELOW! DESCRIPTION:2022 has seen the BYO recover\, rebuild and welcome back our audience at the Bellingen High School’s Stockton Hall.  Music is a collective experience and the BYO see the next step of our recovery and rebuilding as a presentation of works to signify the grand re-opening and a 2023 Season at the refurbished\, upgraded and extended Bellingen Memorial Hall. \n‘Retrace the Space’ will be a FREE musical performance event\, showcasing a selection of modern and contemporary classics\, with a focus on movie theme tracks ensuring engagement of all ages from our community. Our community has a vibrant music scene and draws on a range of distinctive musical styles. However\, The Bellingen Youth Orchestra brings that ‘something special’ to the community\, embracing our older audience but also understanding that for classical music to thrive it must do so in an eclectic culture\, embracing the imagination and passion of the young.
